Speech Level Singing is a technique that allows you to sing freely, naturally, and with ease throughout your whole range. As it is not a genre of singing limited to one style, it can be applied to ANY style.

This technique creates and maintains a healthy, balanced, connected, and relaxed voice through the use of exercises which will:

  • Even the tone throughout your range
  • Eliminate “breaks”
  • Increase your range
  • Build strength
  • Eliminate vocal fatigue

By keeping the larynx (voice box) stable and balancing air usage with vocal cord compression, you can avoid unnecessary muscular tension, enabling you to sing in the same effortless way that you speak.

Speech Level Singing, developed by Seth Riggs, is the technique behind over 130 Grammy Award Winners, numerous Broadway stars, Academy Award winning actors, television stars and recording artists, including Michael Jackson, Kelly Clarkson, Stevie Wonder, and Madonna.  It was also the only singing technique endorsed by American Idol. For more information, please visit the Speech Level Singing website speechlevelsinging.com.

Note: Since being hired as the Worship Pastor for Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry, Joanna has not continued the yearly certification process with SLS. She has been a student of the technique since 1999 and was certified from 2009-2011.

Joanna is a gifted and fun teacher. Her well trained ear identifies areas of strength as well as areas that could use improvement. She has not only helped me improve my vocal quality and health, but empowered me to become a better version of me.
