A typical first lesson consists of a vocal evaluation, vocal tract education, and technique-building exercises. As students progress, they begin to apply the techniques to a song of the student’s choice, or a song that Joanna thinks will help the student develop. Lessons may include mind-body exercises, and students are invited into trauma processing if desired.

$100/30-minute lesson or 10% off ($40 off) a package of 4 consecutive lessons

Joanna focuses on mainstream styles of singing such as pop, alternative, R&B, country, and worship. However, she does not specialize in classical styles.

Joanna had her first voice lesson at 11 years old. At age 14 she began practicing country music and learned about belting. At age 17 she started taking lessons with Dave Stroud. He is one of the master teachers of the Speech Level Singing technique used by over 100 Grammy Award winners, including Dave’s clients: Michael Jackson, Justin Bieber, One Direction, Justin Timberlake, and Kelly Clarkson. In 2003-2005 she studied classical singing and vocal jazz as part of her B.A. degree from CSU Northridge. In 2009, she became certified as a Speech Level Singing Teacher. In 2018 she became a member of Vocology in Practice (ViP), a worldwide network of high-level vocal professionals.
